Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver Award

The JTYAF has been supporting the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme since 2010 and was delighted to help two more young people to complete their DofE Silver Awards.  Bursaries were awarded to these youngsters to help with their Silver Expedition fees, without which it would have been financially impossible for them to take part.

The DofE programme includes a range of activities which focus on Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition.  One of our award winners is volunteering at Upton Country Park and also helping out his local Tesco Food Bank for the Volunteering Section of his Silver Award.  The other is volunteering at an animal rescue centre, looking after alpacas, goats and chickens.  She is also debating on many topical issues at her school for her Skills Section, fighting gender stereotypes in sport and uniform.

We look forward to hearing all about their expeditions and wish them every success.
