Bournemouth airport based pilot training centre Airways Aviation has announced its first Charity of the Year.

A wonderful Christmas single, 'Love From Home,' is this year going to raise funds for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

The fabulous Best of British Party organised by Joe and Mel Barnett and Lucy and Gary Wooding is fast becoming a favourite with many local party goers.

Joe Barnett (pictured centre above) is a great friend of the JTYAF and when he decided to take on the Bournemouth Marathon to raise funds he couldn't have wished for better support.

Congratulations to all runners who took part in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival on 4th and 5th October but particularly to those who ran for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

Our congratulations to Rob Kidd, Tom Burgess Katarn and Liam Doughty for their fantastic achievement in completing the gruelling Spartan Race at Pippingford Park, in a fantastic time.  

Kevin Lindsay (pictured above) said that he "fancied a bit of a bike ride this summer as a bit of a personal challenge."  

The JTYAF has 26 runners taking part in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival  this year and the charity will have representatives on the starting line in all of the adult races. We would like to wish all of our runners every success on the day and would encourage our supporters to visit their on-line fundraising pages to help them along the way.

A bench was presented to the residents of Amberwood House Care Home in Ferndown, in memory of a very special resident, Dot Broomfield, who lived at Amberwood for 6 years before sadly passing away earlier this year.  

The 6th Dorset Plane Pull saw more than fifteen teams enlisted to pull a Boeing 737 a muscle busting 50 metres at Bournemouth Airport.

The JTYAF VIP Hospitality Day at the Bournemouth Air Festival 2014, was a resounding success.  Our guests enjoyed a fantastic flying programme from the exclusive VIP Hospitality Marquee situated on the beach right at the epicentre of the air and ground displays.

Bournemouth and Poole College National Citizenship Students recently completed a ten mile walk and the JTYAF was privileged to be chosen as their recipient charity.

Two Marines, 350 Miles and just 12 hours - that was the challenge that Royal Marine Commandos Richie Puttock (pictured right) and Mark Williams (pictured left) set themselves as a fundraiser for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

On Friday 15th August the Ferndown Fit Camp guys, Tom Huntley,  Richie Puttock, Mark Ormrod  and Mark Williams (pictured left to right above) ran a one hour session to raise funds for the JTYAF.  

Bournemouth and Poole College National Citizenship Students having selected the JTYAF as their recipient charity for their fundraising project and will be walking the walk for the JTYAF. 

The weather couldn't have been better for the second Ferndown Pram Race and the JTYAF were delighted to have a team on the start line.

Kevin Lindsay will be taking on a huge challenge this summer to raise funds for the JTYAF.  He will be undertaking a 1000 mile unsupported cycle from Poole to Nice and as if that is not enough, he will then travel to Grenoble and ride over the Alps!

Barclays House Strong Man Competition certainly did put the 'fun' back into fundraising.  It was a fantastic event, a great atmosphere and the eight competitors who battled for the title did so in true sporting style.
