A young Fire Cadet who is currently taking part in the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service Cadets Scheme has also embarked on her Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The NCO Team at 874 (Sherbourne) Squadron RAF Air Cadets applied to the JTYAF for funding to purchase an MTa Team Kit. John’s Foundation was delighted to make this award to support leadership training at the squadron and we look forward to hearing all about their achievements.

The Trustees of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) were delighted to make awards of £34,000 to 6 local schools in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Awards were made to the Headteachers with volunteers, students and trustees gathered to celebrate this fantastic achievement.

We were delighted to hear that all the Covid tests were negative and Lauren has jetted off to take part in the World Cheer leading Competition in Florida. The JTYAF made this trip possible and we wish her and the team every success. We look forward to hearing all about it!

The JTYAF is delighted to support a 15 year old school girl from Ferndown who has been selected to represent England as a trainer at the World Agility Open in the Netherlands.

The new Jubilee Fund of £33,000 has been made available to local schools to support the mental health and well being of young people in our community. Applications are in and we are absolutely delighted to receive requests for funding support for so many outstanding projects which will make a real difference to the lives of local youngsters.

The JTYAF is supporting a Tall Ships adventure aboard a Challenger yatcht for 20 young people from St Michael’s Middle School.

Here at the JTYAF we were delighted to receive a wonderful collection of thank you’s from Portland Class and Braille Class at Beaucroft Foundation School.

The JTYAF is delighted to provide funding for Year 7 Residential and Year 7 Day Trips for vulnerable pupils at St Michael’s Middle School.

The JTYAF is delighted to support Isabella and recently helped with the costs of attendance at the BIPSM Para Swimming World Series event in Aberdeen. We wish her every success and look forward to hearing about her achievements in the future.

Children at Hampreston First School are enjoying their new lunch time play equipment which was bought with a little help from the JTYAF.

A 4 week trip of a lifetime will take a local young lady to Borneo with Camps International, where she will be involved in community projects supporting, housing and welfare, education and conservation.

The Dorset & Wilts Fire Cadets Programme is now up and running after the pause in delivery due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the JTYAF was delighted to help out with new helmets for the Ferndown Fire Cadets.

Bournemouth Sea and Marine Cadets were in desperate need of new football kit and tracksuits in order to present a smart team image when representing the unit at various sporting events.

The JTYAF has made a financial contribution towards a traverse wall for the sensory room at Parley First School.

The JTYAF has awarded funding to a local 10 year old who is a talented BMX rider and recently won the Club Series at Bournemouth BMX Club.
